What is the Summer Expo?

The Summer Expo is an event, created to give our Online Students an Academy of Art University “Immersion/Intensive” experience. Students are invited to join us on campus in San Francisco for hands-on workshops, tours of departments, live demos, and onsite classes. It’s also a chance for students to meet their Department Directors, talk about their progress with their programs and discuss their futures in their chosen fields. A few lucky students will also get to take field trips our local Industry partners. In the past, those partners have included EA Games, Pixar, Google, YouTube, Facebook and Adobe. Evening events provide opportunities to network with students, faculty and alumni.

When is the Summer Expo?

Saturday, June 18th – Sunday, June 26th. (Or Expo Short program, Monday, June 20th to Wednesday, June 22nd)

How much does it cost?

There is a $50 Registration Fee for those not staying in Campus Housing.

If you wish to stay in Campus Housing, it’s only $375 per person for the week. (Or $188 for Expo Short program Monday, June 20th to Wednesday, June 22nd); the $50 Registration Fee is included. A total of $500 (solo) or $800 (with guest) or $250 (Expo Short program), $450 (Expo Short program with guest). Security Deposit is required to make a reservation. This includes your housing fee. The $125 (solo) or $50 (with guest), $62 (solo short program), $74 (solo short program with guest) security deposit portion will be refunded if the room is left damage-free.

Who can attend?

Any student who has taken their classes 100% online in Spring 2016 or Fall 2015 and will not be enrolled in any on-campus classes in Summer or Fall 2016.

Why should I attend?

There are many reasons why the Expo is beneficial to Online Students. The top three are:

  1. Hands-on instruction, attending on campus classes and other in-person activities can improve your skills dramatically. This will help you to get more out of your Academy of Art University online education and aid in your future success.
  2. Discussing your progress with your studies, your future and career options with your Directors will help tailor and streamline your program and provide depth to your understanding of your chosen field.
  3. During the Expo many attendees experience a wonderful “Ah-ha!” moment. After a few days with us on campus, they understand more about why the Academy of Art University online classes are so demanding and how our connections to creative industries can help them make the important transition from student to working professional. They leave the Expo energized and inspired. Most have made new friends and important connections with Directors, Faculty and Alumni.
