Web Design & New Media Online

The School of Web Design & New Media provides students with a comprehensive education in graphic, print, Web, and motion graphic design. Working professionals teach our classes and put students in direct contact with the industry. Our faculty constantly updates the program to keep up with the most current trends and standards and ensure student success in the professional world.

Students start with a foundation of traditional, industry-standard applications and aesthetics for communication and profit. Through their projects, students focus on functionality, communication with the target audience, and crafting of the user experience. Their designs are supported by the fundamentals of front-end and back-end scripting languages. Students can specialize in usability practices and experience design.

Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) Degree

The Bachelor of Fine Arts program provides students with the tools and skills they need to become web professionals. Our students study digital art, design, and production techniques in contemporary industry-standard mediums for web design, interactive design, print design, usability and interface design, motion graphics, digital typography and font design, digital video, imaging, digital photography, vector illustration, and audio design. With these comprehensive, multi-disciplinary design skills, our graduates are sought after by the most exciting, cutting-edge companies and design studios.

Our curriculum provides the graduate candidate with an education that combines high artistic standards with the most current technology. The School of Web Design & New Media is supported by a faculty of working professionals, offering candidates direct access to individuals within the high-tech field.

The Bachelor of Fine Arts degree requires completion of 132 semester units. Students who already have a bachelor's degree can enroll in our streamlined Second Degree program, which is 66 units and does not require any liberal arts classes or art electives.

Master of Fine Arts (MFA) Degree

The purpose of the Master of Fine Arts program is to transform students into creative leaders and visionaries. Each candidate enters the program through an archway of master classes, learning core skills of concept development, aesthetics, technical tools, usability, and best practices. We accept new students at all levels and varying degrees of familiarity with digital media and equip them to succeed today and lead tomorrow.

Each graduate candidate is supported in designing and completing a leading-edge thesis project that speaks to a world beyond academe. Our graduate students produce work that aesthetically and innovatively propels technology with intent, striving to improve the world we live in. And as they later step outside the academic experience, the final thesis project aims to fulfill a demand in the industry. Our students are held to the highest standards. They are encouraged to think creatively and to innovate in all that they do. Curriculum development is fearless and ongoing.

Our students graduate with up-to-the-minute knowledge and skills, ready to hit the ground running. The Usability Lab supports all areas of a student's interactive assignments, ensuring that student projects are designed for an optimal, memorable user experience.

Associate of Arts (AA) Degree

Our students study digital art, design, and production techniques in contemporary industry-standard mediums for web design, interactive design, print design, usability and interface design, motion graphics, digital typography and font design, digital video, imaging, digital photography, vector illustration, and audio design.

Our students learn from the best in the industry; we draw our instructors, guest lecturers and advisory board members from Academy Award winners and world-leading production facilities. Our curriculum is designed by industry professionals and our board members so that students learn the skills in demand today.
