The Commodore Residence Hall at 825 Sutter

The Academy's Commodore is located at 825 Sutter, across the International House at 860 Sutter. The Commodore offers both private and double occupancy rooms. The Academy's biggest residence hall, it is designated as Co-ed and houses students over and under-21 years old. A Meal Plan is required to live at The Commodore.

Built in 1928 as a merchant seaman hotel, the Commodore has a whimsical eye for Neo-Deco styling and luxury liner details. Dramatic mosaics, murals and playful custom furnishings give The Commodore an air of sophisticated fun. Spin the "Wheel of Fortune" when you check-in and see which of the City's hidden treasures you will win!

The Commodore is located in the heart of the downtown area, three blocks west of Union Square and at the foot of Nob Hill. It is a short walk to the world famous Cable Cars, shopping, restaurants and theaters. It is within proximity to the seven (7) Academy buildings that are located on Sutter Street, commonly known as the "Gallery Row."

At The Commodore, you'll find an open community of passionate student artists studying, playing, and creating all while learning from each other's diverse backgrounds. We encourage you to get involved in your community and participate in the many opportunities to meet other people and to create lasting friendships.
