How to activate your benefits:

Apply for Admission to the Academy of Art University online or call 800-544-2787.
Verify eligibility and Chapter by visiting VA Educational Benefits Website and/or calling Veteran Educational Benefit Office at 1-888-442-4551.
- Chapter 30: Montgomery G.I. Bill – Active Duty
- NEW – Chapter 33: The Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008
- NEW – VA YELLOW RIBBON PROGRAM
- Transfer of Post-9/11 GI Bill Benefits to Departments (TEB)
- Chapter 35: Dependents Educational Assistance (DEA)
- Chapter 1606: Montgomery G.I. Bill – Selected Reserve
- Chapter 1607: Reserve Educational Assistance Program (REAP)
- If you do not meet any of the above Chapters, but feel that you are eligible for VA benefits, please contact the VA for other available chapters.
Complete an application for VA Education Benefits:
- First time using benefits:
- Used benefits before:
  - CH30 / CH1606 / CH 1607 – VA Form 22-1995
  - CH 35 – VA Form 22-5495
Provide a copy of VA Form DD-214 if you are a veteran.
Provide official transcripts from previous college attended.
Submit a copy of your VA application or Certificate of Eligibility to the Financial Aid Office via fax (415-618-6290) or email (FinancialAid@academyart.edu). Be sure to indicate which semester you would like our office to activate your benefits.

Tuition Assistance (TA)

Vocational Rehabilitation (Chapter 31)
Eligibility is determined by your local Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor. If eligible, please submit your VA Form 28-1905 to the Financial Aid Office via fax (415-618-6290) or email (FinancialAid@academyart.edu).

Payments
Make sure that you register for your courses on time to ensure prompt certification of your enrollment. Information about qualifying pay rate and payment dates is available only through direct contact between the student and the Department of Veterans Affairs. Visit http://www.gibill.va.gov/GI_Bill_Info/rates.htm or call 1-888-442-4551 for payment information.

Please note that payments are sent directly to you. Direct deposit is available for MGIB- Active Duty, Selected Reserve and REAP benefits. You can contact the direct deposit center at 1-877-838-2778 or speak with an Education Case Manager at 1-888-GIBILL1 (1-888-442-4551). You can also visit the WAVE application to sign up for direct deposit using the direct deposit form. The WAVE application is available at https://www.gibill.va.gov/wave. Direct Deposit is not available for the Dependents & Survivors Educational Benefits-DEA (CH35) and VEAP.

Entitlement to Benefits
This school certifies your enrollment status, programs and academic progress. All questions concerning payment are to be referred to the Department of Veterans’ Affairs at 1-888-442-4551 or by sending an electronic inquiry by going to www.gibill.va.gov. Click on Questions and Answers, and then click on Ask a Question and Find an Answer. You are required to create an account.

Certifying Officials
The Certifying Official for the Academy of Art University is responsible for the accurate and prompt certification of enrollments and changes in enrollment of eligible students to the VA. The certifying official is an employee of the Academy of Art University, not the VA. The certifying official cannot determine eligibility for VA Educational Benefits.
