Inspired by weather’s dramatic light and its spectacular effects on water landscapes, Kathleen Dunphy has devoted her career to art for more than a decade. Compelled to follow her artistic calling upon relocating to Alaska, Dunphy’s fine art journey also brought her to Academy of Art University. Her studies under renowned artists Brian Blood and Craig Nelson focused her passion for painting and have led to nationwide recognition for her exceptional talent in plein air painting. Dunphy’s numerous achievements include Grand Prize in the American Impressionists 2008 show; participation in the California Art Club Gold Medal Show in five of the last six years; and being selected as a guest artist in the upcoming Plein Air Painters of America Exhibit in 2011. Dunphy’s work is represented across the country at such premier galleries as Argosy Gallery in Bar Harbor, Maine; Morris and Whiteside Gallery in Hilton Head, South Carolina; and Knowlton Gallery in Lodi, California.
