Patty Nelson has taken her knowledge of etching and combined it with her passion for metal work, resulting in a unique approach to creating organic patterns in metal by the use of acid etching. Seed pods, branches, leaves and other natural forms as well as textures and patterns from nature are the recognizable patterns found in her metal and jewelry designs. Nelson creates sculpture and jewelry designed to engage and challenge the viewer to slow down and take a closer look; to share in her explorations and discover the wonders of the world that we are a part of. Nelson received her BFA from the Academy of Art University in 1996. Nelson’s work has been featured in the Lark book 500 chairs: Celebrating Traditional & Innovative Designs, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and the Velvet da Vinci Gallery in San Francisco among others.
