Michael Wiens is a Canadian-born artist and an MFA graduate from Academy of Art in San Francisco, California. In 2004 he received a BFA in Painting and Design from the University of Alberta, where he studied printmaking, painting and visual communications. In 2009, Wiens expanded his abstract and mixed media interests into the area of contemporary realism as he began study at Academy of Art in San Francisco. In 2012, Wiens participated in collaboration with the Uptown Historic Tenderloin Association to create a large-scale mural in downtown San Francisco; an effort to bring the arts dynamically into the neighborhood. His current work explores the unique relationship between fine art and decorative design. Under representation by ANNE THULL FINE ART DESIGNS and the Edward Montgomery Gallery, his paintings may be viewed at the San Francisco Design Center and Carmel, California. He currently lives and paints out of a home-based studio in the Toronto area with his wife and two children.
