Campus Housing
Clara Gil Stephens “Health & Wellness” Hall
The Health & Wellness community of Clara Gil Stephens is located in the heart of Union
Square. It focuses on living healthy and balanced lives. This community seeks to foster a
well-adjusted sense of mind, body, and spirit through exposure to diverse experiences and
activities. This living area will offer residents many tools to explore their own definition of
holistic living.
This historic landmark was originally designed by famed architect Julia Morgan, who also
designed the Hearst Castle. The building originally housed the San Francisco YWCA, and later was
used as a hotel. It features high vaulted lobby ceilings, a beautiful indoor pool area, grand
entrance doors, and an exterior adorned with an array of international flags.
Today, the building offers co-ed housing for Academy students who are under 21. The building is
also the home of the Academy’s fitness gym and indoor swimming pool equipped with locker rooms, and
campus recreation where many fitness classes are offered to all Academy students.
The hall’s common area includes a big screen TV and pool table. An in-house café is located on
the second floor that is open to any student with a valid meal plan. All students residing in this
hall are required to have a meal plan.
