The Digital Arts and Communications Program is a new area of emphasis in website development. Affiliation with communities associated with human and computer interaction such as ACM SIGCHI, is accessible either via Internet or through Industry lectures, workshop seminars, panels, and technical briefings offered by local chapters. BAYCHI, a local chapter that reports to ACM, the Association for Computing Machinery, a society for information technology professionals with over 75,000 members worldwide, keeps professionals, educators and students informed on the current state of the industry. The Baychi Job Bank, a weekly list of job offerings sent via email as a member benefit, indicates a burgeoning new job sector associated with website development in areas such as usability, interaction design and user testing. This widens the scope of potential job opportunities at top major Internet companies for students involved in art and design.
