Fine Art Study Abroad Programs
Academy of Art University offers study abroad programs to enable students to enrich their experience and their art. Highly creative and cultural experiences, the Academy’s study abroad programs immerse students in the art-making process as well as the cultural context from which it is derived.
All classes are taught by Academy of Art University’s outstanding faculty of industry professionals.
Study Fine Art in Italy
Available to Academy of Art University students who have completed a year of their undergraduate program, the Fine Art program in Italy is an immersive creative and cultural experience in the small town of Corciano, with excursions to some of Italy's most notable sights. Students in the program can concentrate on Printmaking and Book Arts or Painting and Drawing.
The School of Fine Art at the Academy of Art University will be conducting the Summer Semester Study Abroad Program in Florence, Italy. This is a 7-½ week program running concurrent with the onsite summer semester and will consist of 6 units of painting or printmaking (4 days per week).
Where: The exciting city of Florence is in the capitol of Tuscany, in the heart of Italy. It has been a vital contributor to the world of art for centuries. Rich with museums, breathtaking architecture and monumental figurative sculptures, Florence offers artists a feast of visual and cultural stimuli. Facilities for students are comparable to AAU facilities both in painting and printmaking. Presses and a painting studio will be available for students.
When: June 19th - August 7th, 2014; a 7 ½ week semester running the same as the AAU summer semester. Six units will be required (or 2 classes). Each class will meet a total of 4 days per week. (Monday through Thursday).
Accommodations: Apartments, with two bedrooms (4 students per apartment) *Air conditioning, single room accommodations (at additional cost) upon request.
