Fine Art Study Abroad Programs

Academy of Art University offers study abroad programs to enable students to enrich their experience and their art. Highly creative and cultural experiences, the Academy’s study abroad programs immerse students in the art-making process as well as the cultural context from which it is derived.

All classes are taught by Academy of Art University’s outstanding faculty of industry professionals.

Study Fine Art in Italy

Available to Academy of Art University students who have completed a year of their undergraduate program, the Fine Art program in Italy is an immersive creative and cultural experience in the small town of Corciano, with excursions to some of Italy's most notable sights. Students in the program can concentrate on Printmaking and Book Arts or Painting and Drawing.

Upon arrival in Italy, students travel to the "Green Heart" of Italy, Umbria, where they stay in locally owned villas in the 14th-century hilltop town of Corciano. Students experience the culture and ambience of Italy through evening excursions to nearby cities and three, weekend trips to Venice, Rome and Florence.

Proposed classes during this study abroad program may include Location Painting, Location Drawing/Sketching, and Location Cityscape. Printmaking and Book Arts classes will also be offered with an emphasis on intaglio, woodcut and linocut techniques.
