As an Industrial Design student, you will begin your professional career on day one. Starting with first semester drawing projects, you will begin developing Industrial Design fundamental skills based on industry standards.
Beginning industrial design courses focus on sketching, graphic layout, computer drawing and model making. As students develop their talents and unique styles, they have many opportunities to network with professionals in the industry and begin their professional futures.
Annual Spring Show – With an exhibition of fresh and original work, Academy of Art University's Spring Show draws crowds of industry professionals each year. Industrial Design students showcase their best work in product, furniture, toy and automotive design. Students show their portfolios and interview with representatives from companies like Mercedes Benz, Mattel, Volkswagen and others.
Awards & Real-World Projects – Students in the School of Industrial Design degree program are frequent participants and winners in industry competitions like James Dyson, IDEA and the International Home + Housewares Show. With a reputation for outstanding work, students of the School of Industrial Design are sought out for internships while they are still in school. Students develop best industry practices and gain invaluable experience through internships.
