Academy Alum Turns Script into Successful Children's Book
Academy of Art University has a reputation for teaching students to take unexplored paths
and to seek out hidden opportunities, and Bruce Angel is the perfect example. Bruce, an Academy
alumnus, recently published a successful children’s book that is receiving rave reviews. “I Believe
in Santa Claus,” Bruce’s first book, was published this year by PublishAmerica. The book is already
becoming a treasured story in homes across the country. The story, about a boy searching for Santa
Claus in a quest to help his sister, is especially valued by parents. Bruce has created an instant
classic that helps families talk to their children about Santa Claus.
Bruce Angel received his
MFA in Motion
Pictures & Television from the Academy in 1999. So how did he get into the business of
children’s books? “I Believe in Santa Claus” was originally a script, and it was Bruce's creativity
and drive that reinvented the story for a different industry. “I Believe in Santa Claus” is his
second screenplay, written shortly after his graduation from the Academy of Art University.
“I wouldn’t even be a writer if it weren’t for the Academy,” says Mr. Angel. Academy of Art
University is certainly proud to call this versatile, talented writer one of its own.
