Academy Alum’s Paper Critters Website Wins Bronze Clio Award
It has been a
year since the launch of his Paper Critters website, but
Academy of Art University alum JR Fabito is still reeling in the awards. Paper Critters recently
won the prestigious Bronze Clio Award in the Student Interactive category.
“It feels very gratifying [to win] and I get a cool little statue to place on my shelf,” JR
said.
Paper Critters has also won Favourite Website Awards: Site of the Month, a 2008 South By
Southwest Interactive Web award, and a 2008 Webby's People's Voice award.
Paper Critters is an interactive site that began as a Final Project for the Computer Arts:
New Media graduation requirement. Users can pick a combination of various features and colors to
make their very own, individualized critter. The critters can be printed out and folded into unique
desk decorations. The project spread rapidly through the Internet and has been featured on highly
trafficked sites.
JR is currently employed at RED Interactive Agency in Santa Monica where he is working on
exciting and innovative projects.
