On Wednesday, September 21, Academy of Art University hosted an art auction at its 79 New Montgomery Street gallery to benefit the thousands of people who are in need of relief in the U.S. Gulf Coast region. Academy of Art University is proud to announce that as the result of our Hurricane Katrina relief auction, over $17,000 has been donated to the American Red Cross Hurricane Relief Fund.

"I would like to personally thank you for your generous contributions to the Hurricane Katrina Auction at the Academy of Art University," said Academy President Elisa Stephens. "I am pleased to announce that over $17,000 was raised during the auction and all proceeds went to the American Red Cross on October 21, 2005."

Artwork from Academy of Art University students, faculty, and alumni, as well as celebrities such Paul Madonna and Grammy Award-winning musician, Tom Waits, were auctioned off during an evening of live and silent auctions. We thank them again for their contributions, and thank everyone involved in the auction for your great efforts in making this such a successful donation drive.
