Academy Director of Photography William Mosgrove Wins APA Award
Will Mosgrove, Director of the
School of Photography at Academy of Art University,
has been recognized for his long-time commitment to the Advertising Photographers of America (APA).
Created this year, the awards honor APA leaders’ dedication to furthering the APA’s mission while
helping to strengthen the photographic community. Six recipients, including Will, were honored at
the APA’s 25th anniversary party in New York, coinciding with the Photo Plus Expo.
Will was honored with the APA Leadership Award for his outstanding leadership over more than
two decades. He joined the APA in 1984, but began volunteering in 1992. He started out as the San
Francisco Chapter Secretary and worked his way up to being elected National President. He held that
position for three terms. Rounding off his impressive history with APA, he served the National
Board as Senior Vice President for three years.
"Six awards were given out that night and to be among the distinguished list of recipients
was quite an honor," he said.
APA is the leading national organization run by and for professional photographers. As an
Educational Sponsor of APA, Academy of Art University students benefit directly from the
organization by having access to business forms, estimating and invoicing guidelines, copyright
protection information and discounts to events and seminars.
In addition to his APA award, Will has received recognition from Communication Arts, Print
Magazine, AIGA Awards, Best of the West, The San Francisco Show, and first place in the Photo
District News PDN’s self-promotion contest.
