Fashion Graduates Impress the Press at This Year's NY Fashion Week
This year's Fashion graduate students have debuted their unique and stunning designs, which have
caught the attention of the media at this season's New York Fashion Week. From StyleList and
Women's Wear Daily to Forbes and the New York Times, the rave reviews have come pouring in.
Jennifer Paull of AOL's StyleList wrote, "The most successful looks from these fledgling
designers were usually those that concentrated each key idea into one standout item of clothing."
She went on to praise designers Hyo Sun An, Steven Oo and Naomi Sutton and their amazing work.
The staff at Women's Wear Daily wrote that "the clothes sent out by six MFA students at this San
Francisco school surpassed some of the contemporary shows already seen for fall," notably Marina
Solomatnikova, Bethany Meuleners, Steven Oo and Sabah Mansoor Husain.

Suzy Menkes, fashion editor at the International Herald Tribune, wrote in
the New York Times, "While New York fashion tends toward the dutifully wearable, the San
Francisco-based fashion college gave food for thought. How was it possible that clothes from six
selected students, with global origins in the United States, Russia and Asia, could seem more
inventive and creative than established New York brands?"
Forbes Online even sat down with Fashion Graduate Director Simon Ungless and designers
Bethany Meuleners and Steven Oo. They discussed what goes into a show of this size and how it feels
to be featured alongside established professionals.
Finally, New York-based TV station NY1 wrote, "The designers may just be starting out, but their
clothes and attitudes seem like they've been at it for years." The station also produced a video
piece on the designers backstage and on the runway.
