Fashion MFA Graduate Megan Greenwood Heads to France for Fashion Success
Megan Greenwood bids farewell to San Francisco as she prepares to follow her dreams all the way to
France. Having recently graduated from Academy of Art University’s competitive MFA Fashion
Merchandising program, Megan has been awarded placement at the prestigious ESSEC Business School in
Paris, France.
Megan’s interest in fashion initiated in June of 2006 when she chose to make a radical move
from a career in the biotech industry to forge a new path in fashion. “After working for two years
in biotech, I realized I wanted to work at a career that functioned at a faster pace than science
and medicine. I believed I could find this in fashion,” shared Megan.
With Megan’s curiosity piqued, she set out to find the right education that would teach her
the ins and outs of the fashion industry. “I did some research online and found the Academy offered
a Master’s program in Fashion Merchandising. I thought the Academy of Art University would be the
perfect way to learn about the fashion industry.”
Recently hailed by W Magazine as one of the top fashion schools in the country, Academy of
Art University proved to be the key to unlock the gates to Megan’s future in fashion. In the
program, Megan acquired all the skills necessary to succeed in a career in fashion. The MFA
Fashion Merchandising curriculum concentrated on refining and focusing her individual vision into a
winning formula for success in the fields of buying, product development, retail management,
marketing, or forecasting.
“The completion of the Academy of Art University MFA in Fashion Merchandising was one of many
character-building and knowledge-acquiring feats I have achieved in life,” commented Megan on her
experience in the program.
Megan credits her accomplishments during the program and her acceptance to ESSEC to one of
her instructors, Judy Toerg. ”She is hilarious to be around, always keeps things interesting,
and always keeps you on your toes. Her knowledge of the fashion industry is apparent.
Take as many classes with her as possible!”
As fellow MFA Fashion graduates prepare to showcase their wares next month during New York
City’s Fashion Week, Megan will journey overseas to her new home in France. Excited to launch a
career in the luxury fashion accessories industry, Megan will merge her fashion savvy acquired at
Academy of Art University with the business expertise from ESSEC to obtain an MBA specialized in
Luxury Brand Management. After that, Megan will head out into the wide world of fashion ready
to take the luxury industry by storm.
We wish Megan, and all her fellow MFA graduates, Bonheur!
