On Wednesday, September 21, the Academy of Art University will host an art auction at its 79 New
Montgomery Street gallery, to benefit the thousands of people who are in need of relief in the U.S.
Gulf Coast region.
"Due to the geographical diversity of the Academy community, countless numbers of us have been
affected by the devastating force of Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath," reflected Academy
President Dr. Elisa Stephens in an observation that illustrates the Bay Area's interconnectedness
with those who continue to suffer in the Gulf Coast.
Artwork from Academy of Art University students, faculty, and alumni, as well as celebrities
such Paul Madonna and Grammy Award-winning musician, Tom Waits, will be auctioned off during an
evening of live and silent auctions.
- 100% of the proceeds will go directly to the American Red Cross
Hurricane Relief Fund.
