A Job that requires you to ski? Welcome to the life of Lori Blasch…

Imagine a job that requires you to go skiing...if you are Industrial Design graduate Lori Blasch, this isn't just a dream. Lori is living the life working for Smith Optics in Sun Valley, Idaho, where she is a prototype designer for glasses and helmets.
Smith Optics specializes in sports optics, and all the designers at the company work closely with engineers to create practical and stylish sports gear. She skis every day – a required part of the job – and brings her dog to work. It doesn't get any better!

While at the Academy of Art University, Lori was a student liaison for the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA). She studied with Gisela Schmoll, who provided key mentorship for her future career. Lori's first job after graduation was at Williams Sonoma, where she worked for three years as a lead designer. She left Williams Sonoma for Smith Optics when her husband's job brought them to Sun Valley.
