School of Architecture Grad Class Excels
School of Architecture summer 2004 graduates are already at work in California for architectural
firms. The fact that the small but dedicated graduating class is now working in California is
reflected perhaps in the focus of their final projects, all of which concerned two of the most
current Bay Area challenges: affordable housing and mass transit.
The four projects consisted of a mixed use and affordable housing project in the Mid Market
revitalization area; a new Trans Bay Terminal with commercial and retail uses (in its present
location); a Muni Transit Stop, Muni Museum and Information Center at the Embarcadero and Mission
Streets; and a new Downtown San Francisco Airport Check-In and Express Ferry Service to SFO located
next to the existing commuter Ferry Terminal on the Embarcadero at the foot of Market Street. These
final projects will be rotating on display in the North Point Gallery in the fall term.
Three of our four graduates are either employed full time or part time in architectural offices
in the Bay Area and Southern California. Our fourth graduate is pursuing further graduate studies
in Southern California.
Athenel O'Campo is in Los Angeles,
Cheryl Hsu is in the South Bay,
Xiao Lin Li is working part time in San Francisco, and
Katherine Shen is pursuing further graduate studies in Los Angeles.
The School of Architecture is proud of all our graduates and anticipates continued success in
