Students Earn Awards in Mark Hopkins Hotel Window Display Competition

On Wednesday, December 14, 2005, prizes were awarded for The Mark Hopkins Hotel Window Display
Competition. Jim Cardosa's Visual Merchandising II class participated in the competition for their
final project. Students were asked to design five windows based on three themes: the 1906
earthquake and fire, the 80th anniversary of the Mark Hopkins Hotel, and the Top of the Mark.
Winning entrants were: Antoi Hilliard and Marietta Johnson (honorable mention) for the 1906 San
Francisco Earthquake and Fire window, Soo Noh and Carla Park for the Mark Hopkins Hotel 80th
Anniversary windows, and Hiroko Kobori and Karla Magsalin for the Top of the Mark windows. Prizes
were awarded based on originality, concept, and design.
The Visual Merchandising III class will fabricate and install the winning windows at the
beginning of the spring 2006 semester.
