Academy Graduate Creates Two Startups
Academy of Art University grad Melissa Winn recalls constantly rearranging her bedroom, as well as constructing houses out of Lego blocks when she was young. It was all good practice for her future career. These days, she's devising classic yet modern interiors for others. Winn graduated from the School of Interior Architecture & Design, and later went on to work at David Kensington and Diane Einstein Interiors before branching out on her own in 2005. Since then, Winn has also launched two online ventures: Sproost, an interior design site, and Little Green Pouch, a purveyor of reusable food pouches. "Looking back," the Academy grad said, "I realize that I not only have a passion for starting companies, but I love being in control of my own destiny."
