Academy of Art University Wows the Public at Spring Show Open House
On Saturday, June 9, 2007, Academy of Art University threw open their doors to future art and
design students and their guests for an exclusive viewing of Spring Show 2007 at their newest
facility, 601 Brannan. Award-winning student portfolios were on display from all 13 Academy of Art
University majors, which helped build excitement among prospects about attending the country’s
largest private art and design school.
After enjoying their complimentary lunches and goodie bags, prospects and their families had
the opportunity to ask representatives questions and speak to successful alumni about their
experiences at the Academy of Art University and their accomplishments since graduating.
James Patterson spoke excitedly about all of the industry resources the Academy of Art
University has to offer compared to other schools he has considered. He was especially thrilled
about seeing Zac Posen receive an honorary doctorate from the Academy of Art University at the
Fashion Show in April, as he aspires to be a successful fashion designer.
“Superb!” Patterson commented enthusiastically as he perused some student paintings. “There
is a lot of talent here.”
From Fine Art’s delicate metal sculptures and striking paintings to Computer Arts & New
Media’s interactive computer stations, prospects surveyed the diverse talent on display. Attendees
buzzed about The French Rabbit Project, a collaboration between eco-friendly wine producer French
Rabbit and Academy of Art University Graduate Fashion students.
Destiny, a local high school student who is interested in attending Academy of Art University
in a couple of years, remarked, “I really like looking at all of the different art!” The future

Everyone left enthused by the show and eagerly anticipating the innovative work they will
create at the Academy of Art University in years to come.
