Anime Club

We are the Anime Club: Season Two. We are a group of people coming together to share our mutual love of anime and anime culture. We meet every Friday from Noon to 5:00 pm. Our club time is split into two parts: during the first half we discuss anime culture and the various aspects of anime in order to learn all we can from it, and the second half is spent working on an interdepartmental collaborative comic book.

Audio Production Club

This is the Academy of Art University Music Production for Visual Media Department's Audio Production Club.   Join us and network with fellow members. Learn from industry professionals, collaborate with peers in other departments, partake in discussions and showcase your work. All so that you may be better prepared for your professional career in audio.

Beyond the Front Row

The purpose of Beyond the Front Row is to bring students together to promote awareness of fashion through community service and special events. Members will be able to create a direct link into the internal lattice of the fashion industry, thus, giving the opportunity to further ones career through knowledge and realworld experience.

Through Beyond the Front Row, you have the opportunity to become part of a growing network of current students, alumni, and industry professionals! We regularly visit renowned companies such as Madewell, take part in NY Fashion Week, learn from amazing guest speakers such as Jean Paul Gaultiers and host our very own Iconic Gala each semester.

Choral Music Club

To enchant the hearts and ears of listeners while opening their mind to a universal language that can echo a lifetime. We believe that song is meant to be heard and anyone can engage in it if they are passionate and willing. In forming a multi-level choir, we will learn and practice sheet music to our best ability for a concert of choral arrangements and occasional gigs. Our members will be exposed to diverse and compelling songs while getting in touch with their own vocal signature. Meets Tuesdays at 466 Townsend in Room 110, 7:30pm to 10:30pm. To join simply email us indicating your interest.

Christian Student Fellowship

Christian Fellowship is for anyone who believes in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior but we also welcome non-believers so that we can share the gospel with them. Prayer, Bible Study, Salvation, Evangelism and spiritual growth are virtues that manifest in our fellowship of loving disciples. In order to join please email us for time and location before Wednesday of that week. And we will be meeting in the Club Corner Room each week unless noted otherwise.

Drama Club

Drama Club is one of the longest active clubs on campus at the Academy of Art University, being around since 2001 putting on a myriad of productions across the border and is an opportunity for any student to "show off" their talent in front of a live audience. Members perform, write, produce and sometimes direct in order to ensure that "the show must go on" and our current wings include: Improvisation, Variety Show, Formerly Known Improv and The Vagina Monologues.

Flashpoint: The Beginning of It All

Flashpoint meets every Thursday at 7:00 in the Theater at 79 New Montgomery. Students can join our club by attending any of our regular weekly meetings.


Ideation Club

Ideation is the process of forming ideas. Ideation Club focuses on concept art, as well as how to prepare yourself for the real world. We hold lectures/discussions, creative workshops, and critique sessions for our members, as well as keep them informed of upcoming events and open projects or job opportunities.

Becoming part of the Ideation Club enables you to be part of an established visual development community. Through club meetings we are able to learn new or build on existing concepts taught in and out of the classroom. Previous lectures/discussions include topics like: How to Give/Take Critique, Business Cards and Websites, and Freelancing Basics. Previous guest lecturers are: Erik Tiemens and Bernardo Warman.

Illustration Study Group

We're a group of illustration and vis dev majors who like drawing and working together. Anyone who wants to draw/needs help with drawing related work can join. What separates us from other clubs is that we also hold instructional workshops run by our senior members teaching skills like digital painting and photoshop. We meet up weekly to do homework/hang out and work together, in addition to the occasional student-run workshop. 

We've been meeting up weekly in Bradley Hall at Powell on Saturdays from 3pm-5pm and having a casual drawing workshop where we take turns modeling clothed figure.

Indian Student Association

The Indian Student Association (ISA) aims at creating a home away from home feeling for Indian students and those who appreciate Indian culture at Academy of Art University through cultural celebrations and interactive meetings. We intend to build a helpful nexus of Indian and non-Indian students within which all members can find the answers to their academic and non-academic problems and share the joy of similar or diverse cultural backgrounds.

ISA is a group of students who truly care about all aspects of the college experience. Join our network for help finding housing, picking classes, our meeting friends. Together we can build an international network of budding professionals who are excited about helping one another and remaining in touch after our time here at the Academy of Art University.

Interior Architecture & Design Club

The interior design and architecture club gathers students from the IAD majors (or any other other Academy of Art University students interested in Interior Architecture) together for instructive and relative discussion. We aim to delve deeper into San Francisco's rich architectural history with such close proximity to so many wonderful projects. Additionally, the club aims to create an inviting atmosphere for students with likewise interests to connect social and academically. They meet at 601 Brannan Street in the Brannan Street Cafe and to email below for meeting times.


Jewelry & Metal Arts Club

The Academy of Art University Jewelry and Metal Arts Guild seeks to provide a network of information, education, and support for students in the Academy of Art University Jewelry and Metal Arts program.  The organization aims to offer students a forum to share ideas, promote their work, form collaborations, and share information about scholarships, exhibitions and job and internship opportunities.  Potential events that the club could support could include guest lectures by industry professionals, exhibitions or trunk shows of student work, an annual catalog of student work, and support for student participation in conferences such as the SNAG Annual Conference and the Yuma Art Symposium.  The group will also provide additional opportunities for student engagement with faculty and student representatives through monthly meetings and participation in department events, such as Open Studios.

Kappa Sigma Fraternity

Kappa Sigma’s main objective is based on building a better man, while encouraging him to participate in as many other campus organizations that he may choose. More specifically, Kappa Sigma looks to provide the opportunity for the male student to enhance his fellowship circle, leadership skills, scholastic involvement, and service contribution to the local community.

LIVE LIFE OUTLOUD! OutLoud is a social advocacy club for the Academy of Art University's queer community. It is a place to connect our diverse community to opportunities, resources, and to each other to achieve a vision of a stronger, healthier, and more equitable place for queer people and our allies by organizing events, celebrating our history and culture, and building resources to create a legacy for our current and future students. OutLoud strives to serve the full spectrum of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer communities, working to create a safe environment for everyone.

We are here to empower and unite queer students and allies through advocacy and support. OutLoud not only provides a fun, safe environment to organize events and address queer issues, but also a place to meet a diverse group of people and make new friends. Learn and participate in our club activities and events such as game nights, movie nights, outings, SF Pride, LGBTQ conferences, volunteer opportunities and much more.

Ping Pong Club

The Table Tennis Club at the Academy of Art University is a club for all students, staff and faculty who either play or who want to play table tennis. The club is based off of friendly competition amongst one another and is open to all levels.

Membership to the club includes entry into campus wide as well as city wide table tennis tournaments. We also are able to practice for free all semester long with open tables at 620 Sutter 7th floor on Sundays from 5-8 pm. We also haveaccess to other table tennis facilities on the Academy of Art University campus.

Sigma Delta Sorority

As rare as a ruby, as classy as a pearl, the Academy of Art University’s finest, the Delta Sigma girls. We are a sorority that strives to create a community based on loyalty, friendship, and community service for women of the Academy of Art University through events that build relationships, leadership, and social awareness.

Be a member of the soon-to-be National Panhellenic Sorority Chapter. Join a social network or accepting and supportive sisters. Together we foster ideals of helping our community while encouraging individual growth for each member.

Our mission here at SpeakOut! is to give every student at the Academy of Art University the platform to tell their story. Our main media is Spoken Word/ Poetry but we are open to signing, stand-up comedy, videos, anything that helps you tell your story. Whether it is a story about your favorite dog or your father's death, every one has a story to tell and here at SpeakOut! we will to build a community from those stories and support each other through our journeys.

We are a group willing and ready to give a voice to students, to promote vulnerability and help shy people become more outgoing and over come their fear of public speaking. We are truly a group dedicated to making sure no one in our school or community is left voiceless and everyone has a chance to expand their box with a group of individuals who will have their back and give them a family away from home.

Speak out meets every 2nd and 4th Friday Night from 7-9pm at the Art Cafe 655 1/2 Sutter Street. All are welcome.

Student Photography Association

The purpose of the photography club is to give a place for students to come outside of the classroom where they can get together with other students and industry professionals and get feed back of their work and talk about photography in general. Also the club will give students the ability to network with fellow classmates and pros for projects school related and personal.  The club will also be a place where students that are further along in the program to give tips and help to less experienced students, so it will be another learning environment outside of the classroom.

Tea Time Animation

The goal of Tea Time is to bring together current students and Alumni to discuss industry and department related news and concerns, facilitate lectures by guest speakers, nurture communication between the student body and the Animation Department and finally to provide an opportunity for peer-to-peer critique. We are a networking resource for the student community.

Being a part of Tea Time gives you an opportunity to be part of an constantly growing peer network of professionals. We are an opportunity for you to get more out of your education and learn what it takes to become the future of our industry. Focused on being adaptable to any student who is interested, your involvement can be anything from attending our weekly meetings to partcipating in our large online community. You’ll have the opportunity to join face-to-face discussions with industry professionals, ask questions, and really get the answers you’re looking for.

Veteran's Club

The Veteran’s Club at the Academy of Art University’s main objective is to be a support system for veterans. We also like to take the opportunity to educate those who have not served in the military about what it is like to serve.

Being a part of the Veteran’s Club creates a social network where veterans can openly discuss post service issues such as posttraumatic stress, grief, loss, reintegration, employment, and educational pursuits. Join us to take part in San Francisco’s Fleet Week and other military sponsored events. Join our Facebook group to get updates on BAH each month or potential job opportunities that are targeted towards Veterans.
