Visual Development students begin their professional careers as Visual Development artists on day one. Starting with first semester class projects, students will begin developing an understanding of drawing and value based on industry standards. As they advance though the program they will learn to put it all together for a portfolio.

Spring Show
With an exhibition of fresh and original work, Academy of Art University's Spring Show draws crowds of industry professionals each year. Visual Development students showcase their best work that demonstrates visual identity, character design, composition, final paintings, design functionality as well as their ability to create various characters and alter moods in stories.
Career & Entrepreneurial Services – Students prepare for entry into the professional work force by taking advantage of the Career & Entrepreneurial Development department’s onsite and online workshops. See more.
Topics include: Job Search Strategies, Resumes & Cover Letters, Entrepreneurship: Starting Your Own Business, Networking & Interviewing Techniques.
In addition, online office hours and career service chats offer opportunities for students to get individual career counseling, advice on resume and interview expectations, portfolio tips, hiring standards, industry trends and networking techniques.
All registered students, graduates, and alumni have access to the daily updated job board, where companies post internships, freelance, full time and part time positions.
Industry Relationships & Events –Throughout each semester, the School of Visual Development participates in industry events and brings respected professionals in the Visual Development industry to campus. Students benefit from lectures and special events. Past presenters have included Pixar, Lucas Films, DreamWorks and more.
