Midori Sargent has designed women’s high fashion knitwear since 1985 and has been a member of School of Fashion knitwear design faculty since 2000. Sargent attended Jissen College in Tokyo Japan to study Fashion Science and Construction. With this foundation, she went on to specialize in knitwear at Vogue Professional Knitting Technology Institute where she mastered all aspects of knitting techniques such as surface design, garment construction, the art of spinning and dying yarn.
In Tokyo, Sargent became head knitwear designer for “Bigi” and “Itokin.” While at Itokin, she launched and designed the “Sybilla” and “Jocomomola” lines for Spanish Designer Sybilla Sorond, which sold internationally in Tokyo, Madrid, Milan, Paris, Hong Kong, Soul and New York.
Sargent continued her path by developing her own high-end namesake knitwear collection. She went on to design the featured knitwear collection of Itokin’s Sybilla line for SS2015, AW2015/16, SS2016 and AW16/17, which was selected to be part of the exclusive Isetan Shinjuku “The Fashion Stage.” In 2016, Sargent took the helm of School of Fashion’s knitwear program to author the only accredited BFA and MFA Knitwear design program in the United States.
