Academy Grad Paints the People Who Have Touched His Life

“Portraits of People,” at the Hoyt Institute in New Castle PA is on display now through December 22 and features the work of Academy of Art University graduate Gary Taneri. Gary, a civil engineer, balances his busy work schedule by doing something he enjoys — painting the people who have touched his life. The Academy grad feels that the connection he has with his subjects is vital to the success of the finished product. He attempts to capture an accurate resemblance that portrays their personalities, interests or occupation. Twelve of his portraits will be on display in the West Gallery of the Hoyt Institute. With a degree in civil engineering from Youngstown State University and a MFA from Academy of Art University’s School of Fine Art, he exhibits regularly and has won numerous awards.
