Academy Student Presents “Wild in the Harbor”

Buenaventura Art Association has framed the untamed in a new exhibition, “Wild in the Harbor.” The exhibition, which runs through Nov. 25 at its seaside Harbor Village Gallery in Ventura, California, features images of wild animals by Academy of Art University’s Mary-Jo Murphy and Susan Colla. The two Ventura artists, in Mary-Jo’s words, “feel a deep connection to nature’s untamed creatures.” For the show, each woman has created works depicting wild, undomesticated animals of Africa and North America. Mary-Jo attended Academy of Art University and focused on painting, illustration and printmaking. Her enjoyment comes from “the inspiration, the creation — watching the image develop from something in my head to something on canvas or paper — and when I make that final, detailed stroke.”
