Academy Students Recognized in Architecture at Zero 2012

Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E), in collaboration with the University of California, Merced, joined American Institute of Architects, San Francisco chapter (AIA SF) to announce student award winners of Architecture at Zero 2012 competition which included a team from Academy of Art University’s School of Architecture for the project "Mountain." Winning designs thoughtfully incorporated elements of energy efficiency, renewable generation and a high-quality architectural design that emphasized sustainability principles. The Architecture at Zero competition supports an action plan of the California Public Utilities Commission that all new residential construction in California be zero net energy by 2020. The goal for new commercial construction is to achieve zero net energy by 2030.
