‘La Noria’ from Academy of Art's StudioX Shines at Global Film Festivals

La Noria (“The Ferris Wheel” in Spanish) is an animated short horror film written and directed by Carlos Baena, who studied in Academy of Art University's School of Animation & Visual Effects. The film was produced by Sasha Korellis, head of production at the Academy’s StudioX. This short film has been accepted in 70 international film festivals and has won numerous awards.

In December 2018, San Francisco hosted a small piece of Italy. On display at Academy of Art University’s 688 Sutter Gallery was "Visions of Italy," an exhibition showcasing paintings, photographs and journals created during the university’s seven-week Study Abroad Summer Program in Florence.

Back in 2013, Nina Fabunmi entered her first Bombay Sapphire Artisan Series competition, created by the spirits brand to gives emerging artists the opportunity to exhibit internationally. For five years, Fabunmi, a graduate of the Academy’s School of Fine Art, qualified as a regional finalist but had yet to be named a winner. For the 2018 contest, she expected more of the same—but her sixth attempt was the charm.

New Spring 2021 Housing Short Stay Program is Now Available!

Academy of Art University is excited to announce our new “Housing Short Stay Program,” which provides housing options for the Spring 2021 semester. Beginning in March and running through May, Academy students can stay from one to three months at The Commodore, our beautiful student residence hall at 825 Sutter St. in San Francisco.
