School of Art History

Academy of Art University’s Art History degree program provides a strong curriculum emphasizing a balance of classical art skills and critical thinking. Studio courses focus on analysis of form, visual communication and expression in traditional media including clay, charcoal, and paint. Art History courses focus on analyzing and interpreting information and exploring the cultural and philosophical context of art history. As students progress through the Art History degree program they will develop both a fine art portfolio and a written thesis.
