Since Academy of Art University’s art scholarships program was founded over 40 years ago, we have helped over 45,000 aspiring artists and designers pursue their educational goals. Academy of Art University offers a number of innovative and inexpensive ways for first-time students, high school students, and teachers to improve their skills and experience all that we have to offer.

The Teacher Grant* provides high school and community college art teachers an opportunity to practice and improve their skills. These full-tuition art scholarships apply toward any regular undergraduate course and are subject to limited availability.

Program Mission

  • Encourage and inspire those who work with young artists and designers.
  • Provide teachers and counselors the opportunity to refresh and expand their skills as well as tap into the creative community in San Francisco.

Program Information

Program provides a full tuition scholarship for a maximum of:

  • Three undergraduate course units for Online or On-Campus (Summer Only)
  • Three undergraduate course units for Online (Fall/Spring Only)

Recipients are responsible for all other costs and fees, including application fee, registration fee, lab fees, supplies, room and board, transportation and any other expenses.

*Applications are reviewed by the Academy’s Teacher Grant Committee. All applicants will be notified of their application status by the committee.

Eligibility

  • Open to all secondary school, community college teachers and counselors.
  • Previous Teacher Grant recipients are not eligible to apply. Grants are limited and it is the University’s mission to provide the opportunity to as many educators as possible.
  • You must provide a copy of your teaching certificate, resume, letter of intent, and recommendation letter from school principal, dean or department chairperson.

Campus Housing

  • Campus housing is only available during the Summer program.
  • A separate housing application must be completed online with Campus Housing or call 1-800-544-2787.

Take Action

The Military Scholarship provides U.S. service members (Active Duty, Reserve, National Guard, and Coast Guard) an opportunity to start preparing for a career in art and design. This art scholarship applies toward any* online undergraduate-level course.

Award Information

  • The purpose of the scholarship is to encourage and inspire transitioning servicemembers to become future artists and designers.
  • Program provides a tuition scholarship for a maximum of:
    • Three undergraduate courses 3-6 units per semester
    • $2,001 per class per semester, for a maximum amount of $4,002 per semester
    • 12 Total Units maximum
    • Lifetime Maximum of $8,004 per student
    • Applicants should be first-time students who will utilize the scholarship to fund the first four sequential semesters or until they reach their maximum lifetime limit of $8,004, whichever comes first

Minimum Eligibility Requirements

  • This scholarship is open to all U.S. servicemembers (Active Duty, Reserve, National Guard, and Coast Guard).
  • All Military Scholarship recipients must provide a copy of his/her approved Military Tuition Assistance form for scholarship eligibility.
  • Student must complete course. Withdrawal from any Military Scholarship course will result in forfeiture of the scholarship that will require the payment of full tuition for the specified course.
  • Previous Military Scholarship recipients that have met the maximum use of one course (three units) per semester for a maximum of four semesters (maximum 12 units) are not eligible.
  • Applicants should be first-time students who will utilize the scholarship to fund the first four sequential semesters or until they reach their maximum lifetime limit of $8,004, whichever comes first.

The Alumni Tuition Benefit supports Academy alumni in a graduate degree program or a second graduate degree program at Academy of Art University by offering eligible students a 15% overall benefit on their program tuition.

Award Information

  • This benefit is for the recipient only and not redeemable for cash. It may only be applied toward tuition expenses.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements

  • Applicant must have previously completed an undergraduate or graduate degree at Academy of Art University (BA, BA2, BS, BS2, BFA, BFA2, BARCH, MA, MARCH, MFA). Personal Enrichment students, Online Award of Completion students, and students earning a Certificate are not eligible for this grant.
  • Applicant must have applied to or be enrolled in a graduate program at Academy of Art University. In other words, applicant must be pursuing an MA or MFA or their second MA or MFA degree at Academy of Art University.
  • Applicant must remain continuously enrolled at least half time throughout the academic year in order to qualify (unless only three units are remaining in the student’s final semester).
  • Applicant must be a US Citizen, eligible Non-Citizen, or International citizen.

Cyrus Artisan Rugs Scholarship

Hard of Hearing or Deaf Scholarship

Details: Sertoma’s Scholarship for the Hard of Hearing or Deaf, is the leading scholarship for hard of hearing or deaf students since the program’s inception in 1994. Students with clinically significant bilateral hearing loss, graduating from high school, or undergraduate students pursuing four-year college degrees in any discipline are eligible for the scholarship.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must have a minimum 40dB bilateral hearing loss, as evidenced on audiogram by an SRT & PTA of 40dB or greater in both ears
  • Must be a citizen of the United States of America
  • Must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree on a full-time basis at a college or university in the United States – graduate degrees, associates degrees, community colleges, and vocational programs do not qualify
  • Must have a minimum cumulative 3.2 GPA on a 4.0 un-weighted scale

KNR’s Stop Distracted Driving Scholarship

Rustica Scholarship

Details: This scholarship program is for students who have a debilitating condition(s) while continuing their education at a college institution. The condition can be any medically diagnosed impairment (physical or mental) that interferes with everyday activities and quality of life.

  • The applicant will need to provide a physician’s statement of diagnosis for their impairment in addition to the other required documentation
  • Applicants who are pursuing a masters degree or higher are only required to be taking 9 credit hours or more for the upcoming fall semester
