Dean Larson is a resident of San Francisco with roots on the East Coast where he has long been associated with the resurgence of the American Realist Movement. He has written books, been featured in numerous art periodicals, and has shown in museums and galleries across the U.S. He has mounted six solo exhibitions at the John Pence Gallery. Larson is “a restless, experimental artist who thrives on diversity.” He is equally adept with landscapes, still lifes, interiors, and figurative painting as well as cityscapes from Europe, the east coast and San Francisco. Larson’s commissioned portraits and paintings can be found in churches, universities, museums, courthouses and corporate collections. He has won the coveted Stacey National Award and Pollack-Krasner Foundation Grant. Larson has taught at Academy of Art University since 2005. He maintains a studio near Mission Dolores.
