Ned Axthelm is an emerging artist who, in the year since completing his MFA at Academy of Art University, has shown his work in 18 exhibitions in galleries, art centers and museums around the Bay Area and the country. He teaches drawing and painting at the Richmond Art Center and in private lessons. Southwest Art Magazine featured Axthelm in the October edition as an "Artist to Watch" and they seem to be right, his work has been noted for its engaging composition and content. He lives in the East Bay with his wife and their new baby daughter, where he is working on a slew of commissions for collectors and new pieces for his current painting series about people watching and human empathy.
