Lindsey Millikan was born in 1986 in Houston, Texas, but now resides in the San Francisco, California. Her undergraduate studies began at University of Missouri-St. Louis and were completed at Texas State University-San Marcos with a BFA degree in 2008. Millikan completed her graduate studies with an MFA degree from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco in 2012. Currently she is working as a freelance artist for Prairie Prince Studios and a Design Consultant for Photograph and Frame in San Francisco. In the past year, Millikan has been in a number of group shows, worked on murals for the nonprofit and private sector in the Bay Area, painted private commissions as well as worked on large-scale set design for Shania Twain’s Vegas Tour at Caesar’s Palace. Millikan is passionate about creating and fostering a vibrant artist community which has led to her partnering with Joel Millikan and curating several group shows of emerging talent through subLEVEL Art. A large recent series of oil paintings focused on the ignored and disregarded elements of city life in the style of contemporary realism. While this subject matter is still prevalent in her street art under the name MILLI, the artist’s most recent series focuses on the ethereal power of music and elusive nature of time. This work will be on display at D-Structure in the Haight neighborhood of San Francisco in the Fall of 2013. In addition, the artist is working on a series for a Solo Exhibition in 2014 at EBMUD Headquarters titled, “Oakland: After Dark.”
