Jackie Brethen Exhibits New Collection at Mondavi Vineyards Gallery

MFA Photography alumnus Jackie Brethen, who completed her MFA in the Fall of 2004, would like to invite you to her current solo exhibition of her new work. The event is being held at Robert Mondavi Winery in Napa Valley from January 8th through March 3rd, 2006.

'Crissy Field', by Jackie Brethen
"Crissy Field". 45" x 12". Hand coated photographic emulsion on assorted papers and thread.

About The Space
The gallery at Robert Mondavi's Vineyards features about 6-8 shows per year. The gallery space (which features high walls and large windows overlooking the vineyards) is open from 10am to 5pm every day.

About The Collection
The specific pieces Jackie is showing are from her new body of work, "Transitions & Repetitions." This collection is the culmination of six months of work.

About The Artist
Jackie's work focuses on the exploration of the boundaries of the photographic medium. Her reoccurring subject of women and nature acts as the avenue through which she questions life and her place within it. The act of photographing acts as the genesis for the final work of art. Jackie works in the space between painting, sculpture, and photography to find answers that she persists in finding answers to those questions.

Jackie combines these media to create mixed media works that explore metal, fabrics, handmade papers, paint, wax, thread, and transparency film to bring her visions to life.

Beyond her show at the Mondavi Gallery, Jackie has exhibited several times in San Francisco and has several more shows scheduled for 2006 in Utah. She is currently teaching at Utah Valley State College in Orem, UT. Related:
