Academy of Art University Showcases the Best of the Best Student Work

Academy of Art University’s Spring Show exhibit for 2021 officially went live on May 20th. This is the second year that the annual event, traditionally held in a physical venue, is made completely virtual.

This year’s impressive collection of student work coming features over 700 of the best of the best student work from the Academy’s 22 different schools, spanning 72 creative disciplines.

All the attributes that make Academy of Art special are on grand display at Spring Show, making it one of the school’s most exciting online exhibitions of the year. The art and design work of the graduating students is a reflection of the Academy’s commitment to hands-on learning, industry participation, interdisciplinary collaboration, mentoring and networking opportunities, and real work experience.

Spring Show is the culmination of years of hard work by extremely talented graduate and undergraduate students. Academy students work harder than they ever thought they could. Our classes are rigorous—taught by some of the finest minds working in today’s creative industries.

Portfolio Review for Industry Insiders

As with previous iterations, Spring Show offers a platform for students to showcase their skills to potential employers. Here, they can look forward to receiving professional critique and feedback from industry insiders, which can help further improve and elevate the level of their work, as well as network and interact with recruiters.

Industry professionals can sign up for the Portfolio Review to take a closer look and provide feedback for each of the student work presented. An appointment will then be confirmed and set by the Industry Relation team.

New This Year

Apart from the expected mind-blowing student work, this year’s Spring Show online also adds some more elements to enrich guests’ experience of the exhibit.

One of these additions is the interactive globe, a dynamic global view of all student portfolios from around the world. Academy of Art takes pride in having a community worldwide, with as much as half the university population coming from over 115 other countries, affirming the school’s broad international appeal.

Clicking on any country in the globe will reveal artworks created by students hailing from that place. See how truly diverse the community of artists at Academy of Art University truly is.

The other exciting new feature on the Spring Show website is the New Playable Games section, specifically created for the School of Game Development. Here, students and other visitors can get their hands on complete and fully playable game games, designed no less by the school’s graduating students, showing off the highly technical skills.

“One of the great benefits of the Spring Show has always been the opportunity it provides for students to show their work directly to industry partners, recruiters, and friends and family.

The department is very excited to give students even more opportunities to get exposure to their work,” expressed David Goodwine, Executive Director of the School of Game Development.

Offering Inspiration and Experience

The annual Spring Show is an event to look out for by those considering a career in the art and design path because of the inspiration one can take away from it. Spring Show has been known to be the stepping stone for many students and alumni who first got to experience it and realized the vast possibilities waiting within the Academy.

By seeing the difference in what they can do to improve their skills within the time spent in the Academy, these students and graduates can look forward to having the confidence to carve their own path in their chosen industries and careers.

“[T]he hard work pays off. Our graduates… are creative problem-solvers, entrepreneurs, and game changers,” says Academy of Art University President Elisa Stephens.
