Since Academy of Art University’s art scholarships program was founded over forty years ago, we have helped over 45 thousand aspiring artists and designers pursue their educational goals in art and design. Academy of Art University offers a number of innovative and inexpensive ways for first-time students, high school students, and teachers to improve their skills and experience all that we have to offer.


Pre-College Programs

The Pre-College Art Experience Programs are programs that provide intensive art experiences for high school students. All high school students are invited to apply to take advantage of these full-tuition art scholarships (based on availability).

2015 Spring Forward Grant

Academy of Art University is thrilled to announce our 2015 Spring Forward Grant to assist you in pursuing your dreams in art and design! We invite all eligible students to apply.

Eligibility Requirements

  • First-time enrolled at Academy of Art University as an undergraduate student. Previous Academy of Art University Pre-College Art Experience participants are encouraged to apply.
  • Must be Undergraduate degree-seeking (AA, BA, BFA, 2nd degree BFA). Personal Enrichment students, students earning a Certificate and Online Award of Completion students are not eligible for this Grant.
  • Enrolled in at least 2 classes for Spring 2015 semester (6 units) by February 2, 2015, and must successfully earn a term GPA of 2.0 or greater with a minimum of 6 units completed.
  • Enrolled in at least 6 units for the Summer 2015 semester by our published Summer 2015 semester registration deadline.
  • Spring Forward Grant is only applicable for Domestic students (US or Green Card only).

Award Information

  • A limited number of tuition grants are available and range from $1,000 to $2,000 to be applied to the recipient’s Summer 2015 semester tuition costs.
  • The amount of each Grant awarded is determined by the selection committee based on questionnaire submissions.
  • Recipients are responsible for application and registration fees. Any other costs or fees are also the recipient's responsibility.
  • Grants are for the recipient only and are not transferrable to any other semester, nor redeemable for cash. 2015 Spring Forward Grant can only be applied to Summer 2015 semester tuition.

Application Requirement Checklist

  • Complete the Academy of Art University Admissions Online Application for Spring 2015 at https://apply.academyart.edu/apply/login.htm with the $100 nonrefundable application fee.
  • Submit completed Spring Forward Grant Questionnaire.
  • Failure to complete the application process and submission of Spring Forward Grant Questionnaire by the deadline of January 12, 2015, in its entirety, will result in automatic and immediate disqualification.

**Grant requirements submission deadline is subject to change based on number of complete submissions received and availability of grant to be offered. Early completion of requirements is highly recommended.

Timeframes & Deadlines

  • Applications and all other requirements will be accepted until: January 12, 2015.
    If applying via regular mail, application must be postmarked by this date.
    • Applying early is strongly encouraged.
  • January 19 – 23, 2015: Selected award recipients will be notified via regular mail and email. No decisions regarding awards will be made prior to this date.
  • February 2, 2015: Deadline for all award recipients to register for the Spring 2015 semester. All recipients must register in at least 6 units for Spring 2015 classes in order to be eligible for the Grant.
  • Recipients must also register for the Summer 2015 semester in at least 2 classes (6 units) by the last day of Summer 2015 semester registration date.
  • Recipients who fail to earn a passing grade of C or better in the two (2) Spring 2015 semester classes (6 units) or fail to register for Summer 2015 classes in a timely manner will immediately forfeit their Grant in full.

The Teacher Grant provides high school and community college art teachers an opportunity to practice and improve their skills. These full-tuition art scholarships apply toward any regular undergraduate course and are subject to limited availability.

  • Provide teachers & counselors the opportunity to refresh and expand their skills as well as tap into the creative community in San Francisco

Program Mission

Program provides a full tuition scholarship for a maximum of:

  • Three to six undergraduate course units for On-Campus (Summer Only)
  • Three undergraduate course units for Online (Fall/Spring Only)

Recipients are responsible for all other costs & fees including: application fee, registration fee, lab fees, supplies, room and board, transportation and any other expenses

Eligibility

  • Open to all: secondary school, community college teachers and counselors
  • Previous Teacher Grant Recipients are not eligible to apply. Grants are limited and it is the University’s mission to provide the opportunity to as many educators as possible.
  • All applicants must provide: copy of teaching certificate, resume, letter of intent, & recommendation letter from school principal, dean or department chairperson.
