The Acting facilities at the Academy are top-notch for the specific training environment every actor dreams of. We offer a 200-seat main stage theater at 620 Sutter Street (in the heart of San Francisco’s performance district) and two secondary performance spaces at other Academy campus buildings. You’ll have access to a fully equipped acting studio, three sound stages, a voiceover studio, and an ADR room—all designed to prepare you for a career as a professional actor.

Academy of Art’s interior architecture students teamed up Five Keys to develop a Home Free Facility in Treasure Island.

Classrooms and Software

Interaction & UI/UX Design students enjoy the use of classrooms furnished with iMac work stations stocked with the industry-standard software tools necessary to create stunning design. During their time with the Academy, students learn a full suite of software and programming technologies, allowing them to create the highest quality portfolio projects.

Automobile Museum

The Academy of Art University Automobile Museum presents a tantalizing glimpse into the history of the art and design of automobiles. Displaying cars from this expansive collection, among them classics from Alfa Romeo, Bugatti, Jaguar, Packard, Duesenberg and Cadillac, the museum preserves an integral piece of international automotive culture.

Art Cafe

Adjacent to the Brodie Residence Hall, the Art Café offers a wide selection of grab-and-go meals including sandwiches, salads, desserts, and hot microwaveable meals as well as coffee, tea, and food options.

Photo Studio

Dedicated to the School of Interaction & UI/UX Design, our photo studio has everything you need to create professional photos and video for presenting your new media. Use the latest DSLR cameras and lenses, backdrops, and lighting kits to bring your innovation to life.

3D Pattern Making Lab

In the 3D Pattern Making Lab students have access to cutting edge technology utilized by top brands in the industry. Gerber Accumark, YuniquePLM, CLO3D software and hardware such as a Gerber Infinity Plotter and Digitizer are available for bringing patterns to life, as done in the industry for global production.

Sound Stages & Broadcast Booths

Step into the lights, cameras, and action in our industry standard sound stages and broadcast booths.

Green Screen Studio

In the largest green screen in Northern California, you’ll use real-time composite monitors and a full array of lighting equipment, including grid lighting, scrims, gel frames, green props, key lights, and more to bring your creations to life.

Computer Lab

Use the latest high-end PC and Mac workstations, along with Cintiq tablets, scanners, and a large format printer.

Printmaking Studio

Our main printmaking facility includes six presses for intaglio, relief, and monotype printing. The intaglio and relief studio embraces both traditional as well as sustainable approaches with support for both zinc and copper etching.
