Study Abroad: Fashion Program

Fashion Extras

In addition to all of the experiences in the main program, students enrolled in the Fashion Program will have access to the following:

  • A ticket to the Wool museum in Stia with guided tour
  • A ticket to Pitti Filati
  • Private bus trip to San Miniato
  • Workshop at Zerolab or The Cube Archive, including local transportation to/from
  • Three-day, two-night trip to Milan with transportation and student accommodations in multi-person rooms (2-4 people)
  • A ticket to Armani Silos in Milan with guided tour
  • A ticket to Luigi Bevilacqua in Venice with guided tour
  • A ticket to Palazzo Fortuny in Venice with guided tour
  • A ticket to Lace Museum in Burano with guided tour and demonstration
  • Private bus trip to Montemurlo and Chiesina Uzzanese
  • Private bus trip to Tavarnuzze and Empoli
  • A ticket to the Ferragamo Museum with guided tour

Fashion Courses

FSH 493 / FSH 903 (3 units)
STUDY ABROAD: FASHION

Immerse yourself in the global fashion industry. Study key brands, conduct comparative shopping, visit exhibits and markets, spot trends, and source materials. You will compile resources and ideas, and build contacts to apply to future work, with projects tailored to your area of study. No prerequisites; open to all students.

LA 494 / GLA 904 (3 units)
STUDY ABROAD: FASHION CULTURE AND INDUSTRY

Discover the impact of this global region on the fashion industry as you explore its rich history of craft, design, materiality, and manufacturing. Field trips to museums, markets, shops, and exhibitions will help you synthesize your research, experience, and resources in a journal and polished report, tailored to your area of study. No prerequisites; open to all students. Meets LA cross-cultural requirement or elective.

Undergraduate students registering must enroll in both FSH 493 and LA 494. Graduate students registering must enroll in both FSH 903 and GLA 904.
