The Academy of Art University's School of Music Production & Sound Design for Visual Media is a recent addition to the school’s world-class curricula in visual arts. The concept: Music is a critical link in the chain of cultural storytelling. Creating music for film, television, video games or any visual medium involves a unique combination of musical expertise and aesthetic sensibility.

Described as “traditional music instruction meets today’s technology in the creation of music for film, TV, animation, games, web and more” by Director Bradley Hughes, the program offers students the opportunity to learn the language of music and how to apply it to the expanding world of visual media. The curriculum makes it possible to explore the symbiotic relationship between music and narrative, using computer-based production tools.

The School of Music Production & Sound Design for Visual Media offers AA, BFA and MFA degrees. Students graduate with a demo reel to submit to employers. Learn more at the School of Music home page.
