Eligible Exams & Credit Criteria

Academy of Art University awards credit for the following tests:

  • Advanced Placement (AP) exams with a score of 3 or higher
  • British A-level with a grade of C or higher
  • British AS-level with a grade of C or higher
  • College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) Credit score of 50 or higher
  • International Baccalaureate (IB) HL exams with a score of 5 or higher

Academy of Art University Residency Requirement
Students seeking a degree must complete a minimum of 50% of required units at Academy of Art University to satisfy the undergraduate residency requirement. The maximum allowable test credit may not exceed 50% of the degree requirements when combined with transfer units, test credit, and credit for prior learning.

  • Advanced Placement (AP) is a program in the United States and Canada created by the College Board. AP offers undergraduate university-level curricula and examinations to high school students. Academy of Art University grants course credit to students who obtain qualifying scores on the examinations.
