Placement Exams & Requirements

Academy of Art University uses scores for Mathematics placement from the following tests:

  • SAT Scores
  • ACT Scores

*NOTE: Students who place out of a required course via ACT or SAT Exam will have that requirement waived but must make up units the with a Liberal Arts Elective course (Consult with Academic Advisor).

SAT Placement

The SAT is a standardized, curriculum-based exam used by U.S. colleges and universities to evaluate an applicant’s academic readiness in written communication and quantitative literacy.

    SAT II (Writing Subject Test)
    660 or higher Place out of LA 116 and into LA 202
    SAT I (Written)
    590 or higher Place out of LA 116 and into LA 202
    SAT I (Written) exam before April 1995
    510 or higher Place out of LA 116 and into LA 202
  • Score Placement
    SAT I (Mathematics)
    500 or higher Place out of the Quantitative Literacy Requirement
    500 or higher ARH, GAP, LAN, FSH Marketing, FSH Merchandising, & FSH Product Development students place out of LA 255
    SAT II Mathematics Subject Examination (Mathematics Achievement Test)
    500 or higher Place out of the Quantitative Literacy Requirement
    500 or higher ARH, GAP, LAN, FSH Marketing, FSH Merchandising, & FSH Product Development students place out of LA 255
    600 or higher ARH, GAP, & LAN students place out of LA 255 and LA 271

ACT Placement

The ACT is a standardized, curriculum-based exam used by U.S. colleges and universities to evaluate an applicant’s academic readiness in quantitative literacy.
