At Academy of Art University, we believe that a world-class art and design education should be accessible to every student who aspires to it. To provide a clear and affordable path for transfer students to live and study on campus, we are introducing the ArtU Transfer Student Housing Offer.

Beginning now, full-time transfer students enrolling for Fall 2026 can qualify for a housing credit of up to $8,000 per semester that supports on-campus living in a standard shared room, in San Francisco.

As an on-campus student, you’ll have access to the Academy’s workshops, studios, equipment, and creative resources while working side-by-side with talented artists, designers, filmmakers, and creators from around the world.

Living on campus means more than simply attending classes—it means becoming part of a vibrant community and immersing yourself in a city known for innovation and artistic inspiration. Here, every day offers new opportunities to create, connect, and grow.

Eligibility

This offer is available to transfer students who:

  • Enroll full-time* for Fall 2026
    *For Spring and Fall semesters, full-time is defined as 12 units for Undergraduate
    students; 9 units for Graduate students.
  • Are admitted to an eligible Academy of Art University degree program
  • Complete all required admissions, financial and housing documentation by deadlines
  • Submit a $100 housing deposit (refundable after move-out; less any applicable charges)

What the Offer Includes

  • A per semester housing credit applied to the cost of standard shared campus housing
    (non-cash; cannot be applied to non-housing fees)
  • Some buildings require a meal plan, check with housing for further information
  • Option to apply the credit toward upgraded (private/single) housing; students are only responsible for any difference in cost
  • Availability during Fall, Spring and Summer semesters as long as eligibility is maintained

Ongoing Eligibility Requirements

To continue receiving the offer, students must:

  • Maintain full-time enrollment
  • Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
  • Remain in good academic and disciplinary standing
  • Adhere to all Academy of Art University housing policies

This housing offer is limited and awarded on a rolling basis. Please complete your admissions and housing steps promptly for priority consideration.

Qualifying students may receive standard shared on-campus housing and enjoy full access to Academy studios, workshops, equipment, and San Francisco’s vibrant creative community.
